Volodymyr Zelenskyy, originally a comedian, became Ukraine’s president during the war with Russia, and his wife, Olena Zelenska, has supported him through these challenging times. Despite the war, Olena has worked to provide some normalcy for Ukraine, focusing on children’s health and school nutrition reforms before the conflict began.
Olena and Volodymyr met in their hometown, Kryvyi Rih, and married in 2003. Olena, a writer, worked alongside Volodymyr on his hit comedy show, Servant of the People, which ended when he became president in 2019. When the war began in 2022, Olena and her children initially stayed in Ukraine, showing unwavering support. She has shared how their relationship has changed, with long periods of separation due to safety concerns, yet they remain emotionally close.
Olena is also focused on important issues like the abduction of children by Russia. She recently revealed that while more than 19,000 children were taken, only 1,227 have been returned. She advocates for international efforts to help reunite these children with their families.
Throughout the war, Olena has remained resilient and dedicated to both her country and family, emphasizing the need for Ukraine’s victory and the protection of its people.
